University College Dublin - Sport and Exercise Summer Abroad
This Program consists of a four week taught tuition period in June and includes a choice of courses as well as training opportunities, supervised strength and conditioning sessions and a social program. With a dedicated coordinator, UCD's faculty and high performance coaches, the program will suit the needs of student athletes or those with an interest and talent in the supported sports.
Program Structure
The Program consists of academic seminars each morning from Monday to Thursday, with sports-specific training and strength and conditioning sessions alternating each afternoon. Recreational activities will be held on Fridays, with weekends free to explore Dublin and Ireland more broadly.

Assessment
The assessment varies between the modules and may include individual and/or group assignments, presentations, reports, quizzes and and portfolios.
Credit Transfer
The successful completion of the program carries 6 US credits (10 ECTS). We will provide full information to Ramapo College to make decisions regarding the transfer of credits. UCD will send an official transcript to the Ramapo College at the end of the program.
Cultural and Social Program
An essential element of the UCD Sport and Exercise Summer Abroad program is the opportunity for students to experience Irish sporting culture through additional activities and tours.
Activities typically may include:
A Gaelic Games experience, tours of major stadiums in Dublin, coaching qualification (optional) and outdoor adventure experience.
Eligibility
The minimum GPA requirement is 3.00.
Applications should be college-level athletes in the nominated sports and be registered students in good standing in their home institution. In 2014, the supported sports are soccer and swimming, though we are happy to field inquiries from athletes from other sports.
In addition to completing the UCD on-line application process, a copy of your passport, an official University transcript of academic record to date and letter of recommendation from your coach should be uploaded to your online application before the application deadline. Swimmers should provide their personal best and season times.
Program Fees
The cost of the program is €4,750 (approx. US$6,250).
This fee includes:
- Tuition fees
- Sports-specific training
- Supervised strength and conditioning sessions
- On campus accommodation in single ensuite room in shared apartment
- Most meals
- Field trips and extracurricular activities
